The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed deep indignation at the Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip and the increasing number of martyrs in this continuous aggression for the seventh day in a row.

Stefan Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General, said in a statement yesterday that Guterres expressed his "indignation at the increasing number of civilian casualties, especially the killing of ten members of the same family, including children, in an Israeli air strike the night before last."

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the Israeli occupation warplanes bombing and destroying a tower in Gaza City housing offices of many international media organizations.

In turn, the United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Tor Winsland, and the Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Middle East and North Africa, Ted Chaiban, called for the protection of civilians and children in particular at all times, commenting on the killing of eight Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip in raids by the Israeli occupation forces. .

Winsland said, "I was horrified by the terrifying incident in the Al-Shatea camp, in which eight Palestinian children were killed in an Israeli air strike," adding that since May 10, 47 children have been killed in Gaza as a result of the Israeli strikes.

He stressed the need to provide protection for children and said, "I repeat, children must not be the target of violence and must not be harmed ... the hostilities must stop now."

In turn, Shaiban indicated that so far, the number of Palestinian children who were martyred in the Israeli aggression on the Strip has reached 47, between the ages of 6 months and 17 years, and more than half of them are under ten years old.

Sheiban mentioned that during the past week in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, many Palestinian children were killed and dozens of others were injured, while 26 children were arrested since the 7th of this month. In Gaza, 35 schools have been severely damaged by the Israeli bombardment, while at least no less than 29 schools as temporary shelters for displaced families, which number about 10 thousand people, the majority of whom are children.

The number of victims of the continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip rose for the seventh day to 174 martyrs, including 47 children, and 1,200 wounded, in addition to severe material damage to property and infrastructure in various areas of the Strip.
