Otterfing -

1500 square meters of paved gravel in the middle of the village: The open space above the town hall on Münchner Straße is ideal for parking - including long-term parking. "We notice more often that even buses and trailers are parked there," said Mayor Michael Falkenhahn (SPD) in the most recent building committee meeting. If you live within walking distance, you can also use the free parking space as a garage replacement.

The “wild” structure of the area on which the Leitner estate once stood, however, limits the community's ability to take action against long-term parkers. "It is currently difficult to regulate something there," said building authority manager Hubert Zellner at the meeting. “We don't have a handle,” added Falkenhahn. But that should be there soon: The building yard will place round bars in such a way that a total of 16 parking spaces are indicated. "Without markings on the floor," explained the mayor, "the whole measure is minimally invasive."

If the area is recognizable as a parking lot, signs can follow that stipulate that parking discs are mandatory, that heavy-duty traffic is excluded and that control is possible. Falkenhahn can imagine a maximum parking time of two or three hours. For the booth of a fishmonger who visits weekly, four places must remain free on Thursdays.

"All in all a very good suggestion," said Georg Schlickenrieder (CSU). Long-term parkers would have no place in the area. "Landlords have to provide enough parking space themselves," said Schlickenrieder. Roberto Sottanelli (SPD) suggested promoting the new, then official car park to parents of primary school children. "Then they no longer park in front of the fire brigade to bring and fetch the children, where the places are actually reserved for emergency services." At the suggestion of Ulrike Stockmeier (FWO), Falkenhahn agreed to gravel a small path from the parking lot down to the schoolyard.

Gerhard Heimerer (CSU) asked whether the upgrade to a recognizable parking lot was really possible free of charge - probably also bearing in mind the almost 100,000 euros with which the town hall built the parking lot further south on Tegernseer Straße last year.

"If you can do this without a lot of money, that's fine," said Heimerer.

Because this central parish area is far too valuable to serve as a permanent parking space.

The old Leitner property, last used as a shelter for the homeless, was demolished by the community in 2010.

Falkenhahn's predecessor Jakob Eglseder (CSU) saw the area as a reserve area should the municipal administration need to be enlarged.
