The Hague Castle has been closely linked to the history of the Ampertal municipality for many centuries.

Now it is being rebuilt.

Haag

- Anton Hofmair has big plans.

He is in the process of rebuilding the Hague Castle in order to bring an important piece of Hague history back to life.

To the southeast of the old brewery, which he extensively renovated together with his late son Christian, the reconstruction of the historic building is being carried out, in which the listed sacral furniture will later be found again.

On August 25, 1997, the former castle, which stood on the castle meadow behind today's community kindergarten, was demolished.

It probably no longer fit into the Ampergemeinde and threatened to deteriorate.

Originally, only the existing old mansion, but not the chapel with the oratory, was to be demolished.

However, after the entire structure could no longer be saved at the time, the former owner of the castle, Count Moy, was granted the demolition permit, but with the condition that the chapel be rebuilt in the same style within three years.

There are many stories about the venerable castle

Even in the distant past, the building load of the castle had always been a big problem.

As early as 1854, the castle was demolished under Baron Karl Beck von Peccoz, because the owners no longer wanted to live there themselves.

The demolition of the three-story castle was done by master mason Renkl from Au, who had to pay 500 guilders to the manor and built the apartment for the beneficiary.

There are many stories about the venerable castle.

For example, the former headmaster of the Hague Elementary School, Alois Huber, reported in a publication from the year 1728 about the splendid times of the Hague Castle under the rule of Count Hieronymus from the year 1728. He said that the Bavarian line of the Count Lodron-Laterano family of Franz was founded by Lodron.

This was in the service of the Medici.

Through his marriage to the wealthy Maria von Flitzing, he became the owner of Hofmark Haag.

During the patronage of his son Maximilian, however, the private financial situation deteriorated to such an extent that they were forced to sell Hofmark Haag in 1828.

This was the end of a 200-year rule.

First nobles, then refugees lived in the Hague Castle

The former castle has seen many owners and was also badly damaged by the armies that marched through the Ampergemeinde during the Thirty Years' War.

It came into the possession of Baron Karl von Beck in 1844.

From 1845 on, the beneficiary lived in the castle because the beneficiary's house was sold.

At that time it was the duty of the castle rulers to provide the beneficiary with an apartment.

Dr.

Paul Hörhammer bought the castle in 1874, and the last beneficiary of the castle moved out in 1885.

With the founding of the parish of Hague, the castle benefice was dissolved.

After the chapel was renovated in 1935, displaced persons and refugees lived in the castle from 1945 onwards.

Since 1962 it has been uninhabited.

Thanks to the Hofmair family for the new construction of the palace, who thereby ensure the continued existence of an important part of Hague's history.

Even if the landmark of the municipality fell victim to the wrecking ball at the end of the last century, parts of the building will be rebuilt by the Hofmair family in the old look.

The last, sad remains of the dilapidated Hague Castle were demolished in August 1997.

The relics of two saints were found in the chapel.
