(CNN Business) -
Coke Energy, we barely met you.
The Coca-Cola / energy drink hybrid will be discontinued in North America just over a year after its launch.
Coke Energy hit the shelves in January 2020, a few months before the coronavirus began to spread through the region.
However, the pandemic altered the beverage giant's business strategy and in a statement the company said it will focus on beverages that sell well, including its caffeinated sparkling water and traditional sodas.
Coca-Cola Energy will continue to be sold in other regions
Four varieties of the energy drink are sold in North America: Coke Energy, Coke Energy Zero Sugar, Coke Energy Cherry, and Coke Energy Cherry Zero Sugar.
The drink is made with extracts of guarana and vitamin B, and has 114 mg of caffeine per 355 milliliter (ml) serving.
A 355 ml can of regular Coca-Cola has about 34 mg of caffeine.
Coke Energy will continue for sale in other parts of the world.

It is the latest Coca-Cola product to be removed from its wide range.
The Atlanta-based company announced last year that it was retiring 200 brands, or about half of its catalog.
The reduction will allow Coca-Cola to focus on its most profitable offerings.
Until now, Zico coconut water and Tab and Odwalla juices have been buried in the beverage graveyard.
