Peter Tobisch has gone quietly forever.

The former fruit and vegetable dealer, former FDP city councilor and candidate for mayor died in these days after a serious illness.

Geretsried - Tobisch's life has been characterized by work and diligence since his early youth. He helped out in his parents' fruit and vegetable shop on Karl-Lederer-Platz and later went into business for himself as a trader at the two Geretsried weekly markets as well as the Wolfratshauser and Ickinger markets. As head of the Aktiongemeinschaft des Geretsried trade (AGG), he fought with his deputy Volker Reeh to ensure that the trade in the center of Geretsried did not fray too much. Because at the beginning of the 1990s, more and more supermarkets and shops opened up in the north and south of the city as well as on Sudetenstrasse. In 1996 Tobisch also moved into the city council for the FDP with this concern. In the mayoral elections in 1998, he and Albert Weiler (SPD) lost to Hans Schmid (CSU).

“As a trader at the weekly markets and as a city councilor, Peter Tobisch always stood up for his fellow men. It was never about his personal interests ”, says his long-time companion Reeh. When Tobisch's wife Gitta became seriously ill, he took care of her devotedly until her death in 2007. He gave up his job as a flying trader and worked for seven years in what was then the “Baufuchs” hardware store.

Manfred Freiseisen, ex-City Councilor of the Free Voters and Baufuchs employee, remembers the deceased as a "very pleasant colleague". Tobisch was competent, friendly and extremely popular with customers. Most recently, the native Geretsrieder protested alongside Patrik Kohlert, Dr. Elmar Immertreu and other citizens against the redesign of Karl-Lederer-Platz. The group found the new Puls-G building too big and overpowering.

In the Isar-Kurier, Peter Tobisch, who ended up living very secluded, wrote an obituary for himself.

"Born in Geretsried more than 70 years ago, a completely surprising illness ended my existence on earth," he writes in it.

He thanks his two sons, his partner and his friends for "the sincerity and honesty, for the fun and humor, for great experiences and undertakings, for the good and perhaps not so good times." The funeral takes place at his express request takes place in the closest family circle.
