Smaller, more secure and more practical to store, the new identity card arrives in Picardy from this Monday, May 17.
It is the second French department, after Oise, to test this card which includes some new features.

In the same format as the driving license issued since 2013, this identity card will include the name, usual name, first names, date and place of birth, address, size, sex, date of issue of the card, its expiry date as well as a photo of the face and fingerprints of its owner.
All this information will be written in both French and English and the French and European flags will appear on the map.
Note that for children in shared custody, the addresses of both parents will be indicated on the card.

On the website of the public service, the Ministry of the Interior indicates that this card is also equipped with a "
visual electronic seal (CEV) signed by the State
". The latter allows automatic reading of the data entered on the card, "
which will allow rapid detection of possible fraud if these data have been modified."
Unlike the old identity card which was, until now, valid for fifteen years, this new card will be valid for ten years to comply with European regulations.
In addition to Picardy, this “

is also launched today in several departments such as Aisne, Calvados, Eure, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Manche, Martinique, Mayotte, the North, Orne, Pas-de-Calais, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Somme, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, the Wallis and Futuna Islands ... but also the Southern Territories and the French Antarctic. This card will be generalized everywhere in France from August 2, 2021. The website of the public service indicates that “
no national identity card in the old format can be issued from this date.
