Evacuation of the wounded The 130 wounded from the disaster in the synagogue in Givat Zeev, let two people were killed continued.

Meanwhile, the heads of the local council and the Israel Police have placed the responsibility on each other.

According to the heads of the local council, they warned about the defects in the synagogue in the area, while the police claimed that they announced last week that the building was forbidden for prayer.

At the same time, the fire and rescue service revealed a letter they published during the week claiming that the incident that ended in disaster was not approved at all.

"On Friday, May 14, 2021, we were informed that a mass event is planned to take place in a building that is under construction," the fire and rescue service wrote before the holiday.

"A mass incident in a building that has not yet received the approval of the fire and rescue service for the completion of construction, is not approved."

The head of the Givat Zeev local council, Yossi Avrahami, said that the council had warned in advance regarding the holding of the event without a permit. "We alerted the authorities, we have references, this is a tragedy for the settlement," Avrahami said. "We put up checkpoints and closed with signs. Unfortunately I did not receive any assistance from the police. We are trying to take care of everything related to the community and the wounded."

Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman said it was a "tragic incident" and that the incident took place in a synagogue where construction has not yet been completed. "A meeting was held last week, during which the station commander informed the head of the council that the building is forbidden in prayer and regular instructions were also given," Turgeman said. "There is a local authority's responsibility here to lead to closure, there are local authority powers, no one is in charge of what. All things will be examined and it is estimated that there will also be arrests in the incident. Again an incident that has irresponsible negligence and conduct."

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said following the incident that "my heart goes out to the victims of the disaster in Givat Zeev. IDF forces led by the Home Front Command and the Air Force are working to assist in the evacuation.

I pray for the safety of the wounded. "
