The Argentine National Team will play again after more than six months of inactivity for the South American Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the coach, Lionel Scaloni, opted for a long list with several surprises and the absence of Paulo Dybala.

Also striking are the citations of Lucas Alario and Exequiel Palacios, who are recovering from injuries suffered in Germany.

The defenders José Luis Palomino, Cristian Romero and Nahuel Molina and the midfielder Emiliano Buendía were summoned for the first time to the senior team that will face Chile, on Thursday, June 3 in Santiago del Estero, and Colombia, on Tuesday, June 8 in Barranquilla, for the dates 7 and 8.

The most notable absence is for Paulo Dybala from Córdoba, who after a series of injuries has already returned to play for Juventus but was not considered by Scaloni for this double date. Dybala's last time in the selected team was in November 2019 in the friendly matches against Brazil and Uruguay.

The former Institute was in the call for the first dates of the qualifying rounds but an "abdominal box" left it out of the matches against Ecuador and Bolivia.

Then, for the November games against Paraguay and Peru, Dybala could not travel due to general genitourinary symptoms.

So far in 2021, the 27-year-old left-hander has made thirteen games for Juventus and scored three goals and his future at the club is on hold.

In that position, Scaloni settled on Buendía from Mar del Plata, a figure in Norwich's promotion to the English Premier League.

The attacking midfielder was born in Mar del Plata on December 25, 1996 and began his career at the Club Cadetes de San Martín, where he played until he was 11 years old, when he emigrated to Spain.

There, he made two years of inferiors in Real Madrid and then went to Getafe.

After passing through Getafe B, he officially debuted in the first team in the 2014/15 season and played three seasons before being loaned to Cultural Leonesa.

In mid-2018 he was transferred to Norwich and the Spanish team has already received a total of five million euros for the pass.

In his first season he played in the Premier where he played 36 games but could not avoid relegation.

He stayed at the club and with 15 goals in 39 games was one of the figures of the return to the top flight.

In 2015, Buendía played the U20 World Cup in New Zealand under the leadership of Humberto Grondona and with Ángel Correa they are the only ones who remain on that squad.

The "Cuti" Romero, former Belgrano, played for the sub 20 (with Claudio Úbeda) and the sub 23 for Fernando Batista and is one of the key pieces of Atalanta's defense together with José Luis Palomino from Tucumán.

The latter, emerged in San Lorenzo and at age 31, will enter the AFA premises in Ezeiza for the first time as a player for the national team.

Nahuel Molina shared the same squad with Romero in the South American Sub 20 in 2017 and will have his first experience in the major due to his good season with Udinese, in Italy.

After his controversial departure from Boca Juniors, the right winger played 28 of the 37 Serie A games, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
