Pupils at the Karl-Sittler-Straße primary school in Poing are now growing their own vegetables and herbs.
Not only that: they also cook under supervision.
Poing - Growing, raising, caring for, harvesting vegetables and herbs yourself and processing them into delicious and healthy food: This is what children in the all-day class at the Karl-Sittler-Strasse primary school in Poing-Süd do now.
In the “School Garden” project.
For this purpose, raised beds have been set up in the playground, supported by the Böck nursery from Neufarn.
She supplied the school with a large selection of vegetables and herbs of all kinds free of charge. The BayWa DIY and garden center Poing also donated material, such as watering cans, reports Rector Verena Heigl, who thanks both companies for their support.

The Böck nursery went one better and donated 500 euros to the primary school's development association - cashier Karin Keegan accepted the check and reported that the money was also being used for the school garden.
Eva Hingerl, who is responsible for the online shop at Gärtnerei Böck, was present at the handover;
Rector Verena Heigl started the project with her.
Poing: planting, tending, harvesting, cooking
Dominik Junga is in charge of the all-day project; together with Lisa Buchner, he looks after the schoolchildren while gardening and later cooking in the new school kitchen. “With this planting campaign, the children should learn how to grow their own vegetables in the garden, how to care for the young plants and, of course, in a few weeks also the culinary enjoyment of the hopefully abundant harvest,” explains Rector Verena Heigl. The pupils had a lot of fun with the insertion and the initial care.
