The CDU boss is featured in the special program “ProSieben Spezial Live.

The station had previously hosted SPD candidate Olaf Scholz and Green candidate Annalena Baerbock.

The interview lasts 45 minutes.

ProSieben: Laschet's great opportunity - can he convince the younger target group of himself?

Like Scholz and Baerbock, Laschet has the chance to polish up its image with a possibly younger target group.

Compared to the established public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, the viewers at ProSieben are significantly younger.

The ARD and ZDF audiences are on average 62 years old, while the ProSiebenSat.1 group is 25 years younger.

For Laschet and the CDU / CSU, it is particularly important to score points in this population group.

In the 2017 federal election, the Union was the strongest party in all age groups, but it received a high level of approval, especially from older voters.

The CDU won 36.5 percent of the votes from those over 70 and the CSU, like its sister party, did well, especially with older voters.

In the case of over 70-year-olds, the result achieved in Bavaria for Germany was a strong 8.1 percent.

At the same time, both parties lost, especially in the age groups between 25 and 34 years and between 35 and 44 years.

In other words, the older population's approval of the Union is traditionally greater than that of younger generations.

Now Laschet can advertise itself to a younger audience.

ProSieben: Laschet in an interview - "want to continue to occupy political issues"

ProSieben is happy to give the Union candidate this opportunity, as it is assumed that they will benefit from the interviews.

"With this we underline that political interviews are part of our understanding of the ProSieben media brand," says ProSieben boss Daniel Rosemann.

Before the federal elections, they will also "continue to occupy political issues that are on people's minds".

Laschet already gave a foretaste of possible topics of the evening: At a press conference on Monday lunchtime, he spoke about the problem of anti-Semitism and the election campaign demands of his opponents.

Maybe Linda Zervakis will take on the role of moderator again. For the native of Hamburg, the Laschet interview after the Scholz show is the second big appearance after switching from the ARD Tagesschau to private television. During the Baerbock conversation, Katrin Bauerfeind and Thilo Mischke asked the questions - and received criticism. But there was also resentment about Zervakis' first appearance with Klamroth.
