Two people were killed and 184 were injured last night (Sunday), after a tribune collapsed in a Carlin Hasidic synagogue in Givat Zeev. The first person killed in the disaster is 13-year-old Meir Gleiberman, who celebrated a bar mitzvah last Passover and studied Talmud Torah of Hasidism in Beitar Illit. His funeral will take place tonight, most likely from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem. The second victim is 23-year-old Mordechai Binyamin Rubinstein, a resident of Beitar Illit and the father of a baby girl.
"We are saddened and shocked by the heavy mourning and terrible grief for the disaster that befell our community. On behalf of the families and the community as a whole, we extend our gratitude to the emergency and rescue forces and medical staff at the hospitals, whose activities and dedication have saved many lives."
The storks argued that "attempts to link the collapse of the grandstand to the construction site itself should be postponed, as we have been provided with the appropriate permits, including required safety permits, which we will present to authorities, without prejudice to inspection and investigation procedures."
According to the storks, this is a point failure in the construction of the grandstand.
"The Carlin storks will act transparently and responsibly in cooperation with the authorities who are investigating the difficult incident."
