The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tamam Raad, was briefed on the reality of work in a number of drinking and irrigation water wells and dams in some areas that suffer from a shortage of drinking water in the province of Sweida.

During his inspection of the drilling of an alternative well for drinking water in the village of Big Picture, the stages of preparing the alternative well of “Lahhath 1”, the work of drilling an additional well in the town of Shaqa, and the reality of work in the Khuzma wells complex and the maintenance of stalled wells in it, Minister Raad emphasized the need to raise the pace of work and overcome all obstacles to the placement of these wells. To serve as soon as possible to remedy the existing bottlenecks and support water supplies in the villages and towns that feed them.

Minister Raad was also briefed on the rehabilitation works of the Ghaydat Namira Dam, which contributes to securing drinking water for more than 18 residential communities, as well as the rehabilitation works of the Northern Mushfif Dam, which contributes to securing drinking water for about 14 residential communities in a mountainous area where digging artesian wells is difficult, stressing the need to accelerate their completion according to the programs Set temporal.

The Minister of Water Resources listened to the demands and complaints of the people in the areas covered by the tour related to the lack of drinking water and its connection with the recurrence of submersible faults, the fluctuation of the electric current, the absence of specialized technical workers on the wells and the provision of water supplies and networks, poor distribution and incurring the burden of purchasing water in special tanks, where he emphasized that the priority is To secure drinking water for citizens, follow up and address their just demands, take all necessary measures to address technical problems, in coordination and cooperation with the concerned authorities, accelerate the return of idle wells to service, and improve the reality of water.

In a meeting with the concerned people in the governorate, Minister Raad indicated that a contract was made to repair five submersibles in which they were started, another contract was approved to hunt three submersibles, and an announcement was made for the maintenance of 15 other submersibles for the idle wells within the wells of Al-Mukarramah of the Water Resources Authority, as for the wells of the Water Corporation, especially in Some of the sites suffering from a decrease in the voltage of the electric current has been announced recently to secure a group of regulators and loaders, with the approval to announce the total speed for the maintenance of failed well submersibles, and to give priority to the areas with a large water deficit.

The Minister of Water Resources indicated the readiness to contract with the Directorate of Education for the maintenance of submersibles in the industrial secondary condition, provided that there is solvency and technical readiness to maintain all submersibles according to the terms and quantities required and to achieve the technical specifications that are emphasized in the maintenance work, calling for the formation of local committees to monitor the issue of pumping and water distribution operations to achieve fairness Distribution with a re-examination of the reality of the network in general and address the shortcomings.

The Governor of As-Suwayda, Eng. Hammam Debyat, indicated that the Governorate of As-Suwayda depends heavily on deep artesian wells, which makes there an urgent necessity to maintain its readiness in terms of operation, maintenance, quality, monitoring and diligent follow-up by everyone to overcome obstacles to the projects under implementation with the importance of developing new wells in service commensurate with the need the Actual.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the director of the Water Corporation in Sweida, Eng. In turn, the Director of Water Resources in Sweida, Eng. Mahmoud Melli, pointed out that 17 wells need to be repaired and 3 wells need to be caught out of 92 wells invested within the wells of Al-Mukarramah, of which 10 are placed at the disposal of the Water Corporation to support the water supply, stressing that work is underway to repair them successively so that they are all in service with At the end of next month, in addition to following up on the reality of the technical dams, whose storage ratios this year were moderate due to the weak rain and snow season.
