In Moosburg there will soon be an alternative to annoying coin-operated machines: parking fees can soon be paid by mobile phone.

Moosburg

- The young FDP city councilor Philipp Fincke got the ball rolling and got the city of Moosburg to introduce the digital parking ticket.

With the unanimous decision of the city council, it was decided to use the same provider as the neighboring town of Erding.

Philipp Fincke took a look at systems that were already in use in Erdinger or Pfaffenhofen - with the result that payment via smartphone has long been running smoothly.

“The solution in Erding works very well,” said Fincke.

The provider Pay by Phone was then also awarded the contract for downtown Moosburg.

There was approval from all sides in the city council

This is how the system works: The end of the parking lot saves the trip to the parking ticket machine and the search for coins, but has to pay ten percent more.

If you park for one euro, you pay 1.10 euros for parking on your mobile phone.

In the city council, the FDP individual city council received approval from all sides. CSU parliamentary group spokesman Rudi Heinz observes every day how drivers look for coins on the map and go into the surrounding shops so that bills can be exchanged for them. For some shopkeepers this is annoying everyday life. Verena Kuch (Greens) associates the digital parking ticket with the hope that parking spaces within a few minutes' walk from the center will be better accepted in the future. “Perhaps it is a motivation that you can simply extend the parking ticket via the app if you stay in the city center for a longer period of time.” Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW) and the city administration also rated the modern parking ticket very positively. The city administration tested the system on site in Erding and came to the conclusion that the process is easy for the user.

Black parkers still have no chance

In the discussion about the application, however, it was also made clear that this is an additional offer and that parking will still be possible with a parking ticket issued at the machine.

Another important point for the city was that it was possible to pay for the digital ticket using the PayPal payment service that many people use.

Pay by Phone also offers this option.

The digital parking ticket does not save black parkers from paying tickets.

An interface gives the city inspectors the opportunity to view the users' parking data.

Since that is possible, there was nothing to prevent the introduction of parking with payment via the mobile phone app.

In the future, the provider will also be integrated into the “Mein Moosburg” app.

For the introduction, the city expects the signage to cost a maximum of 3,000 euros.
