The LR federation of the Alpes-Maritimes, led by deputy Eric Ciotti, announced on Monday that it was withdrawing its support for the regional elections from Renaud Muselier's list on which there are candidates from the presidential majority.
"We have, despite the commitments that had been made before the national investiture commission, noted that Renaud Muselier had reached a political agreement with the Macronian power"
, estimate the Republicans of the Alpes-Maritimes in a motion adopted by 84% of the members of the departmental party committee, according to a statement.

Referring to the opening of the right-wing list to LREM candidates, this motion denounces an agreement
"directly negotiated and imposed by the Elysee to try to destabilize our political family within a year of the presidential elections". "This alliance constitutes an insult to the militants and to our candidates engaged in the departmental elections"
, continues the motion adopted by the representatives of this federation which claims to be the first in France. 12% of committee members opposed this motion and 4% abstained, the press release said.
Friday, during the presentation of his list
"Our region first",
the outgoing president of the region Renaud Muselier had criticized certain members of LR opposed to the opening of his list to fifteen members of the presidential majority who, according to him,
“question the red line 'no compromise with the National Front'”
(now National Assembly). In early May, the hand extended by the latter to the presidential majority, seized by Prime Minister Jean Castex who had announced the withdrawal from the list of Sophie Cluzel by evoking a
"political recomposition",
had created a psychodrama at Les Républicains.
After fierce debates within LR, the party had finally decided to maintain its support for Renaud Muselier, on the condition that he gave up accepting majority candidates. Having called several times for the withdrawal of party support for the outgoing president of the region, Eric Ciotti had already announced that he would not support Renaud Muselier, supported in particular by the mayor of Nice and local rival of Eric Ciotti, Christian Estrosi, who has as for him made the choice to leave LR.
