A twisting and turning roller coaster at an amusement park in Phoenix, Arizona, got stuck midway through Saturday night, leaving nearly two dozen riders twenty feet up until the Fire Department came to the rescue.

The Desert Storm roller coaster at Castles N 'Coasters amusement park got stuck on a steep curve, according to photos from the Phoenix and Glendale fire departments.

Firefighter rescue crews arrived on the roller coaster and used a High Angle Descent System to safely lower passengers to the ground, Phoenix Firefighters said.

Photos from fire departments show at least seven ladders and about 15 firefighters at the scene.

Phoenix Fire Captain Todd Keller said the passengers were rescued one by one over the course of a couple of hours using a rescue harness and collar.

No one was injured.

"A couple of them were upset, but overall they were in a good mood," he told CNN affiliate KTVK / KPHO.

Joseph Almaraz, a 12-year-old boy who was trapped in the ride, told KTVK / KPHO that he was scared when firefighters untied him and lowered him.

"It was scary because we didn't go down a ladder, we had to jump from ladder to ladder," he said.

The park's website advertises the attraction as one of the best: "Test your senses and your courage as you challenge the thrill of the vertical drops, twists and turns of the impressive Desert Storm Roller Coaster."
