New York-Sana
Next Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly will hold a meeting to discuss developments in the occupied Palestinian territories in light of the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Reuters quoted Association President Volkan Bozkir as saying: Niger and Algeria, the presidents of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab Group in New York, asked the General Assembly, whose membership includes 193 countries, to hold a public meeting "in light of the seriousness and rapid deterioration of the situation."
In a joint statement at the Security Council yesterday, China, Tunisia and Norway expressed their deep concern over the continued Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip and attacks on the occupied Palestinian territories, calling for an end to the aggression and respect for the status quo of occupied Jerusalem.
The continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip resulted in the death of more than 200 Palestinians, including 59 children and 35 women, and 1,305 injuries.
