Geneva - Sana

The World Health Organization called on the Israeli occupation entity not to attack the medical infrastructure and medical staff in the Gaza Strip.

"It is imperative that international humanitarian standards are fully respected, and all must ensure that these vital laws are respected," Agence France-Presse quoted the organization’s director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as saying today.

Ghebreyesus added: “The recent escalation has caused dozens of accidents involving treatment teams and health infrastructure, as well as seriously affected tests and vaccinations against the" Covid 19 "virus, which leads to health risks for the whole world.

For his part, the head of the organization's emergency program, Michael Ryan, said: "All attacks on health-related matters must stop immediately, with the importance of ensuring access to health services."

"We will continue to work with all those who want to help individuals in need and those whose physical and mental health has been affected by this conflict," Ryan added.

The Israeli occupation deliberately targeted medical personnel, ambulances, hospitals and health institutions in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of two doctors from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex’s staff, wounding dozens, and major damage to health centers.

The continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip resulted in the death of more than 200 Palestinians, including 59 children and 35 women, and 1,305 injuries.
