Arab society launched a general strike across the country this morning (Tuesday), after the monitoring committee of the Arab public, which was joined by local and popular witnesses in Israel, announced last night that they would protest to call on government decision-makers to restore personal security among Arab citizens.

According to the decision, the protest follows the events in the al-Aqsa Mosque, the removal of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem, and the loss of personal security in the public space and in the cities involved.

For the first time, Arab workers in Israeli companies and businesses will take part in the strike, according to them, due to the growing fear of acts of revenge against a nationalist background and the loss of personal security.

As part of the strike, municipal services, schools, banks and more will be shut down.

There were also calls from many young people in Arab society to block the roads at the entrance to Arab localities in order to bring about the success of the strike.

Although the Arab Public Monitoring Committee announced that medical workers would not take part in the strike, Maimonides' CEO issued a statement banning workers from Arab society from taking part in the strike.
