Ambassador Hassan Khaddour, the permanent representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations office in Vienna, condemned in the strongest terms the continuous barbaric aggression, indiscriminate bombing and killing of innocents, the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the criminal occupation practices in occupied Jerusalem and the rest of the Palestinian territories in flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law .
In his videoconference during the opening of the thirtieth session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Ambassador Khaddour called on the international community to take effective and immediate steps to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and support their right to self-determination and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with United Nations resolutions. In another context, Khadour emphasized that the Syrian Arab Republic is a party to most of the international instruments concerned with the prevention of organized crime and is keen to update and develop its national laws in line with these international agreements, noting that the Syrian government has issued, during the past years, a package of laws that included combating all types of crime, the most recent of which was the law.
