Sweida-Sana
The cultivated areas of tomatoes in Sweida for the current season have reached 6270 dunums, of which 6070 are irrigated and the rest are underground.
The assistant director of agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Alaa Shuhayb, stated that the cultivated areas are good, especially since the cultivation of tomatoes comes first among the summer crops in Sweida and secures part of the local need and provides a source of income for many working families in this field.
Eng. Shuhayb pointed out that tomatoes will continue to grow until the end of this month, despite some difficulties facing farmers with regard to the unavailability of some types of fertilizers and their high prices.
It is noteworthy that the areas planted with tomatoes in Sweida last season amounted to 6200 dunums, while the total production achieved exceeded 57 thousand tons.
