The project was born out of the Corona emergency and was a huge success.

The digital event series “Spotlight on DAHoam” has collected well over 30,000 euros for the starving cultural sector.

And the grand finale with sports legend Sven Hannawald is still to come!

Dachau

- If you really want to find the fly in the ointment, then you have to say: Nothing can replace the live experience that you can partially physically feel at a concert or theater performance.

The interaction between artist and audience is unique.

In this respect, a concert broadcast via the Internet will never replace a real concert.

Nevertheless, the digital event series "Spotlight in DAHoam" managed to gather thousands of people in front of their screens, to offer them top-class culture and at the same time to bring a charity project to life that many of the cultural workers who were badly shaken by the corona crisis were once again a little financial air to breathe.

Ralf Weimer is one of the initiators of “Spotlight on DAHoam”. Last December, the advertising specialist launched a digital Advent calendar with the “Dachau trades” association, on whose board he is a member. The virtual Christmas market was visited 40,000 times, and over 12,500 citizens took part in the daily competitions. Weimer wanted to take this momentum with him into the New Year and met Mike Maurer in the midst of these mental games. As luck would have it, at the beginning of 2021 the boss of the “High Five” bar in Dachau-Ost had an idea: a digital concert with the party band “Ois Easy”.

The two men saw this as a sign of fate: “Come on, let's get together!” And so the idea was born to offer cultural events on the Internet, 100 percent of which would benefit the artists.

Dachau's cultural office director Tobias Schneider quickly got on board and took care of the selection of the bands.

Of course, not everything went as planned, not all topics - such as poetry slams - could be implemented virtually.

The originally planned number of four to five events could not be maintained either - in a positive sense!

"We never thought that we would have nine appointments in the end!"

What was clear from the start: That the events that started in March should be accessible to everyone and therefore free of charge! The concerts and theater performances could simply be clicked on and viewed - and whoever wanted, then made a small donation. According to Weimer, a total of 24,600 euros have been collected in this way to date. In addition, there is the income from the so-called day sponsors, who subsidize individual events with a larger sum. Overall, according to Weimer, “we have meanwhile cracked the 30,000 euro mark”!

The biggest clicks were the concerts of “Ois Easy” with around 8000 clicks, as well as “Boxhead” and the “Hound Dogs”.

Even the performance of the Bergkirchen Hoftheater, which he thought was “difficult” at the beginning, was, according to Weimer, “a huge event in terms of format” - and also a popular success.

What impressed Weimer most about his series: “Solidarity, in all matters”.

Only a small part of the donated money - around 30 percent - went to the artists themselves. They in turn would have passed 70 percent of the money collected on to their sound engineers and event partners.

With the reason: "What use is it to us if we are allowed to perform again after Corona, but there are no more organizers until then?"

Speaking of Corona: “Ois Easy” is already planning for this time and is using the “Spotlight on DAHoam” platform for another charity campaign.

You can bid for a performance by the band online until May 31st, and 100 percent of the money should again go to the event technicians and to the “Spotlight on DAHoam” pot.

With Sven Hannawald's commitment to the ninth and, for the time being, last “Spotlight” event, Weimer has proven that his concept can not only attract local crowd pullers like “Ois Easy”, but also supraregional celebrities.

Weimer, who knows Hannawald personally, told the former competitive athlete about his series, whereupon the 2001/02 Four Hills Tournament winner only said: “Cool thing!

If we find an appointment, I'll support you! "

This date is now next Thursday. From 8.15 p.m. Hannawald will answer questions from moderator Dominik Härtl and the audience, who can write to the star live via the Internet, without receiving a fee. Topics will be: his successes, his failures, his crises. After 14 months of the corona pandemic, most of the listeners are likely to be affected by at least the latter topic.
