Miesbach - The good old window shopping is revived in Miesbach.

The “Art in the shop window” campaign has been running in the city center since yesterday.

Until Sunday, June 13th, pictures and works of art by 22 artists can be found in 27 shops.

It is a symbiosis that results from the consequences of the pandemic: the lockdown means that the shops can no longer open as usual and fewer people come to the city center.

It affects the artists even worse: They hardly have any more opportunity to show themselves and to appear to the outside world.

With the project “Art in the shop window”, the Kulturvision association brings these two groups together.

As in Holzkirchen, Otterfing, Bad Wiessee and Tegernsee, the shop windows in Miesbach are now also becoming a stage for local artists, and the city center is to a certain extent a large open-air gallery for walkers.

A whole shop full of art

The official starting shot was given yesterday at Bahnhofstrasse 4, where the Jeanseria shop was previously located.

In the now empty rooms, all shop window areas are used to present a colorful variety of art in the truest sense of the word.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller likes the campaign: “It's a nice form of revitalization in these difficult times.” This is how you can lure people into the city and offer artists a platform.

According to Max Kalup from City Marketing, there was great willingness for “art in the shop window”, which is based on the principle of the Krippenweg: “A lot of shops have made space in their shop windows.”

Wide range of works

Artist Katrin Hering also emphasizes the great openness of the shopkeepers: "This is a great opportunity for all artists to show something."

"Currently, artists do not play a role at all, although they are also an economic factor." That is why this campaign is a good approach.

What Braunmiller also confirms: "Artists need our support."

A point of contact for artists from all over the district is the round table that Sibylle von Löwis looks after at Kulturvision.

“We're bringing artists and communities together here,” she says.

Ideally, “art in the shop window” will not be the last action to bridge this gap.
