In the Corona crisis, freight traffic was and is a (small) anchor of stability for ailing aviation.
Munich Airport has now strengthened its position as a cargo hub - with an airlift to Istanbul.
Airport - Turkish Airlines Cargo has opened a weekly freight connection from Bavaria to the Bosporus.
Istanbul is considered a hub in the entire Asian region.
The Turkish airline is using Airbus A330F cargo planes on its new cargo route.
The new freight service has already met with a great response from the business world.
The opening flights were fully loaded with 50 tons of freight each, reports the FMG.
The companies located in the catchment area of Moos Airport include many global players and market leaders from the automotive, electronics, medical technology, biotechnology and aerospace sectors.
"I see enormous potential here and could well imagine that Turkish Airlines will soon expand its freight service with additional frequencies," said airport manager Jost Lammers, who spoke of an "important vote of confidence in Munich as a location".
