The sentence was postponed to June 8th, and bail was allowed to continue during the period.
The defendant Zhang Ho-yan (37 years old, franchised bus driver) was originally charged with one count of dangerous driving. He was accused of driving a double-decker bus dangerously on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei on September 6 last year. He was charged with another accidental offence. The offence of driving refers to him accidentally driving a double-decker bus on Pokfulam Road near the Madam Ho Tung Memorial Hall on the same day.

The official pointed out that the defendant had passed several bus stops during the period when his backpack was blocked, and instead of stopping the car, he tidied up at a red light and drove without wearing gloves. Considering that he was going downhill and bends, he believed that the defendant was going downhill. Taking a fluke mentality and potential risks, so another crime of careless driving was also convicted.
The officer refused to fine
The defense representative Guo Jingxian pointed out that the defendant once had a record of accidentally driving. He originally wanted to change from a part-time driver to a full-time driver, but after this case, he should not be able to do so.
The defense also stated that the case was an independent and special incident, and that it was not the defendant’s usual driving method, and he hoped that it would be fined.
However, only the official said that the defendant was driving a double-decker bus at the time of the case. The two charges were only a few hours apart, and the road section was quite complicated. His driving attitude might pose potential danger to the passengers and road users on the vehicle. The sentence will be postponed to wait for the report of the social service order and the probation order, and the defendant will also be considered for suspension.
