It is an ambitious plan: the newly renovated old sacristan's house in Neufahrn is to be inaugurated in one year.

The work is in progress.

Neufahrn

- In one year, according to the ambitious plan, the old sacristan house in Neufahrn should shine in new splendor.

And in a year the then renovated building should be inaugurated.

“It will be a gem”, Mayor Franz Heilmeier was certain on Monday when architect Armin Peschmann explained to the local council what measures to preserve the existing building have been carried out so far and what the next steps are.

The entire building had been cleared of rubble, the plaster on the walls had been carefully removed, the faulty floors had been cleared out and exposed, modern partition walls and components had been demolished. With these works, which enabled a “free view” of an exciting spatial structure and now give the walls the chance to dry out, impressive rooms were found in the vaulted cellar and stencil painting on the ground floor, explained Peschmann. Only a few beams are badly damaged, the stairs, however, are in "very poor condition". According to Peschmann's view of the near future, Peschmann is currently in the process of setting up the new planning according to the current resolution. That means that soon all masonry will be underpinned in sections. After that, the renovation of the building should start from the bottom up,an elevator and a toilet system will be installed and finally the event room for 50 to 60 people will be realized on the upper floor.

Structural work is planned for the summer

The shell work should start in June or July, the work will take around a year, said Peschmann in response to a question from Christa Kurzinger (CSU).

Beate Frommhold-Buhl (SPD) found the project “very exciting” and asked whether there had been any nasty surprises so far or whether such surprises were still to be expected.

Peschmann's answer: There have been no surprises so far.

Possibly these could emerge when the archaeologists examine the building and the ground.

That is "not calculable".

When Burghard Rübenthal (CSU) asked whether the impressive basement rooms could not be used, the architect had to answer in the negative: In the absence of a sufficient escape route, public use is currently not possible.

But: "We're working on it."

Companies are busy, building materials are becoming more expensive

For Peschmann it was also difficult to answer the question of whether the planned costs of 1.85 million euros could be achieved.

He is "optimistic", but the economy is not making it any easier.

The building materials are becoming more and more expensive, the companies are working at full capacity and are certainly paying for their services.

Nevertheless: The project has been decided, and hopefully the “gem” will be opened in a year, said Heilmeier, head of the town hall.
