It is perhaps the epilogue of an affair which agitated the Republicans for long days.
This Tuesday, the president of the Christian Jacob party wished “the victory” of Renaud Muselier to the regional Paca to “prevent the tipping” of this region in the hands of the National Rally (RN).
And this, he underlined, in spite of his "error of political analysis" which pushed him to install, in the first place, LREM candidates on his list.
"In the continuity and proud of the results of the past mandate, we wish the victory of Renaud Muselier for the regional ones on June 27, thus preventing the switch to the National Rally" of Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur, wrote in a press release on boss of LR, at the end of a strategic council of his party during which certain elected representatives again asked to withdraw the nomination of the current president of the region.

"There is neither minister nor LREM deputy on Renaud Muselier's list", which was the condition for LR to support his investiture, said Christian Jacob. But he also deplored that “the presence of running mate of the presidential majority and the absence of parliamentarians from the Republicans on the list created tensions and confusion on the ground, detrimental to the campaign”.
Renaud Muselier "made a mistake and an error in political analysis by not believing in his own strength and that of his political family, thus giving in to Elyos maneuvers", according to him.
The boss of the LR adds that the latter "did not measure the fact that Mr. Macron is definitively reduced to playing only his capacity of nuisance, nor the weakness of the territorial anchoring of LREM and his inability to lead a list under its own colors ”.
And he "calls for the sense of responsibility and cohesion of all in the face of the maneuvers and turpitudes of the President of the Republic who wants to make the National Assembly his one and only adversary".
Retailleau, still opposed to the nomination
Representative of the right wing of LR, the leader of LR senators Bruno Retailleau said he pleaded with this council "for the withdrawal of our support for Renaud Muselier because despite his commitments, he has reached an agreement with the Elysée ”.
“The right is not soluble in macronism,” he tweeted.

The day before, the LR federation of the Alpes-Maritimes, led by deputy Éric Ciotti, had withdrawn its support for Renaud Muselier's list. The LR vice-president of the Assembly Annie Genevard pleaded for “cold blood”. “The only ambition” of Emmanuel Macron “is to sow confusion which the RN is delighted with everywhere in France. Let's turn this page! ".
