Chief Justice Zhang Juneng of the Court of Final Appeal led a delegation to visit Beijing and met with Zhou Qiang, President and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court today (18th).

At the meeting, Zhou Qiang congratulated Zhang Ju on taking up his new duties and affirmed the positive changes that have taken place in Hong Kong's judiciary since Zhang Juneng became the Court of Final Appeal.

Zhou Qiang said that the inland people’s courts have thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the rule of law, continuously deepened the reform of the judicial system and the construction of smart courts, the credibility of the judiciary has been continuously improved, and the people’s sense of gain has increased significantly.

The Supreme People's Court supports Hong Kong's judicial institutions to keep pace with the times and maintain professionalism, fairness, and efficiency through judicial reforms; and to enhance the national awareness and ethnic concepts of judicial personnel by deepening exchanges and cooperation with the mainland people's courts.

Zhang Juneng expressed his gratitude to the Supreme People's Court for its concern and support for Hong Kong's judiciary, and he is very much looking forward to exchanges and cooperation with the Mainland People's Courts in terms of professional seminars and judicial technology.
