Reopening of restaurants: our selection of the most beautiful terraces in Paris

2021-05-21T21:53:06.627Z

We take advantage of the reopening of restaurant terraces in the capital to take a deep breath of fresh air, while waiting for the sun to arrive.

It's the return of the terraces!

After six long months of closure, restaurants can reopen them from this Wednesday.

Tables and chairs have flourished on sidewalks, parking lots, courtyards, secret gardens and even on the roofs of buildings.

Restaurant owners have competed in their imagination to share these moments of rediscovered freedom with their customers.

Because the restrictions still remain in place with a gauge of 50% of the reception capacity, tables limited to 6 people maximum and a curfew at only 9 p.m., pending the reopening of the rooms on June 9 and a return to normal on June 30 if there is no new outbreak.

Even if the weather is not very good for the season, discover our new spots now, for a lunch break, an aperitif with friends or a one-to-one dinner on a roof top, at the water's edge, in a museum or in a garden.

The most Italian

Bambini, the new establishment of Paris Society, opens Friday at the Palais de Tokyo.

The Palais de Tokyo is in tune with la dolce vita.

Laurent de Gourkuff, founder of the Paris Society group, and Romain Taïeb, formerly at the helm of Piaf, take up residence in the temple of modern and contemporary art.

With Bambini, the businessman who collects some forty prestigious addresses, including six of the largest terraces in the capital (Monsieur bleu, avenue de New-York, Coco at the Opéra Garnier, Girafe at the foot of the City of Paris). 'Architecture, Perruche sur les roits du Printemps…) has imagined a “popular neocantine”, transgenerational, festive and affordable, for an evening with friends, a brunch, a Sunday lunch with the family or a business lunch.

The secret

Les Petites mains, an oasis of freshness for sunny days, not far from the Eiffel Tower.

Mecca of fashion, the Palais Galliera, has the most trendy terrace of the summer. Nestled in a green setting, in the shade of the columns of the palace erected in the 19th century, “Les petits mains” ephemeral outdoor restaurant is an oasis of freshness with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. With around 100 seats, this secret terrace offers continuous service from noon to 7:30 p.m. and can be privatized for evening events. Chef Vincent Mallo, revealed by the program “Objectif Top Chef” on M6, offers generous and creative cuisine in summer colors. Vegetables cooked a la plancha, meats and fish just seared are featured.

We can start with asparagus, brioche perdue, candied egg yolk drizzled with ginger oil (14 euros) followed by cod confit with fennel mousseline, kaffir lime, baked annabelle and bisque (21 euros) and the sweet tooth will not resist the tart with strawberries and basil (16 euros). The starter + main course is 23 euros. For little cravings, “little hands” concoct a menu of ultra-fresh plates to nibble on throughout the day. To discover when leaving the exhibition "Gabrielle Chanel" extended until July 18 or during a visit to the Trocadéro district, at lunch break, at tea time or around a drink.

The first floating urban art center, Fluctuart is also a must-see party place. We hurry on this glass and metal barge, moored at the foot of the Invalides bridge to enjoy the sublime view of the Grand Palais, the Eiffel Tower and the river. And that's good, for this new season, the founders have taken over the quay and can accommodate up to 300 people thanks to their new terrace and rooftop. You can sit down at lunchtime around a cheap formula (15 euros), bask in the sun sipping a coffee or toast with a cocktail, a glass of organic wine or a beer by sharing a mixed board and tapas. For dinner, you have to come early enough to enjoy the sunset. The menu is short and the prices tight. And, icing on the cake, you can visit the exhibition rooms free of charge before leaving.

The virtuous

At the Virtuous, you can feast without breaking the bank.

It is a new address to discover for the quality of the products. Twelve, the last food court in the capital, took up residence last March in a pavilion installed in the former Reuilly-Diderot barracks (12th century). Spread over two floors, the gourmet hall houses a restaurant with two terraces and chef Pablo Jacob does his market on site. On the space open to the garden, you can taste a dish imagined by one of the producers of the food-court: fishmonger's ceviche, butcher's tartare, green salad, cheese platter ... All at low prices (between 15 and 20 euros the menu). You can also have a snack there. As an aperitif, mixed dishes accompany beer, cocktails and glasses of wine (from 7 to 9 euros). Upstairs, the short lunch menu is updated with new arrivals and expands in the evening.
