A good two weeks ago, the Scots elected a new parliament.

Now it is clear: Nicola Sturgeon remains Prime Minister of Scotland.

The head of the Scottish National Party (SNP), which advocates independence from the United Kingdom, received all 64 votes from her parliamentary group and thus a simple majority in the vote in Parliament in Edinburgh.

The party had clearly won the parliamentary election on May 6, but narrowly missed an absolute majority.

Sturgeon announced that the priority was the economic recovery after the corona crisis.

Then there should be a discussion about what kind of country Scotland wants to be.

“Everyone in Scotland deserves an equal say.

Scotland's future must be Scotland's choice, ”Sturgeon said.

Climate protection plays an important role.

"Nobody will be safe before everyone on this planet is safe." For this it is also important that the UN climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, in November is a success.

“This is the time to think big.

This is the time to be a pioneer, «said the 50-year-old.

Sturgeon had already announced that, in due course, parliament would vote on a new independence referendum.

Your SNP lacks a seat for an absolute majority.

In the matter of independence, Sturgeon can count on the support of the Greens, who are also calling for Scotland to return to the EU.

In the opinion of most experts, however, a referendum would not be legal without the approval of London.

The British government rejects a referendum.
