The International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra) and the Paris Mosque (GMP) signed a partnership agreement on Wednesday allowing victims of “
anti-Muslim racism
” to turn, free of charge, to legal aid from the Licra.

It also provides for "
awareness-raising and information actions
" - videos, educational brochures - aimed at "
young audiences
" and "
schools,
" the rector of the Paris mosque Chems-eddine Hafiz told AFP.
A joint working group will also make it possible to develop "
joint analyzes on current issues linked to anti-Muslim racism and secularism, universalism and republican values
", underline the two organizations in a press release.

This partnership also aims to "

", they add. The Licra and the GMP note that "
anti-Muslim racism is more and more significant and is visibly manifested in society
". For several years now, the Licra has observed that “
among all the facts of racism or discrimination of which (she) becomes aware via her online or telephone reporting form, reports of anti-Muslim acts (acts of a racist nature and discrimination ) come first
”.
Thus, according to 2020 data transmitted to AFP, out of some 800 reports for acts of racism or anti-Semitism, the largest part, that is to say 263, are acts of “
anti-Maghreb or anti-Muslim

. And of the 492 reports received by the “
online hate
” pole

. The Licra and the Mosque of Paris also place their initiative "
in a context of the rise of Islamism and separatism

need to develop a new framework to support and organize the Islam of France, while respecting and transmitting republican values
”.
