The Minister of Defense of Colombia, Diego Molano Aponte, affirmed this Wednesday that the roadblocks in the framework of the protests against the government are not considered as a constitutional right.
Through a statement, Molano referred to the executive branch's order on the handling of blockades and demonstrations in the country by the armed forces.
Molano said that the security forces must protect the rights of both the people who protest in Colombia and those who do not.
“In this government, peaceful protest is protected and guaranteed;
vandalism and violence against citizens, public servants and infrastructure is rejected.
Any intervention must be done in full compliance with human rights and under the principle of proportionality, ”said Molano.
