For a few citizens in the Freising district, the date for the second vaccination has recently been postponed quite spontaneously.

The district office explains the background.

Freising

- Confusion about the second vaccination: Paul-Alexander Wacker from Freising should recently get his second vaccination.

But three days before the appointment, the vaccination center informed the 78-year-old that the appointment had unfortunately been postponed - by three weeks.

Was there not enough vaccine in stock or what was the reason for the change of plan at short notice?

23 district citizens were informed by telephone

The Freisinger turned to the daily newspaper with these questions. The district office has clarified the facts: Shortly before the decision to only vaccinate Biontech and Moderna in Bavarian vaccination centers and to hand over Astrazeneca to the doctors' practices, seniors were vaccinated with Astrazeneca in the vaccination center in Freising. "Most of them got their vaccination appointment via the Bavaria-wide online portal," reports press spokesman Robert Stangl when asked by FT. However, 23 women and men were also invited to the first vaccination by telephone from the call center. As a reminder: Seniors in the district were able to reserve their places by letter and e-mail and were called as soon as appointments were available.

In mid-April, the first vaccinations with Astrazeneca in the vaccination centers in the Free State were discontinued.

For some citizens of the district this means that they will receive a different vaccine when they have a second vaccination - therefore the waiting times have also changed.

This is due to a recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO): It advises that the second vaccination with the mRNA vaccine - such as Biontech or Moderna - should always be given at an interval of twelve weeks for the first vaccination with Astrazeneca in order to ensure better protection .

In other words, if you were first vaccinated with Astrazeneca in the vaccination center, you will receive either Biontech or Moderna for the second vaccination.

"Accordingly, the second vaccination date has been postponed for some district citizens," says Stangl.

Astrazeneca: "Nothing is given away to other counties"

The majority of those affected had been informed about this via the BayIMCO portal without any problems.

"Unfortunately, only the 23 people who had been contacted by phone before were overlooked." This was noticed at short notice - and Paul-Alexander Wacker, among others, unfortunately only found out on Friday that the second vaccination planned for Monday would be three weeks away move.

Incidentally, the Astrazeneca vaccine, which was previously kept in the vaccination center, was completely distributed to the general practitioners.

“Nothing was given away to other districts,” emphasizes Robert Stangl.
