Fridays for Future has published a post with anti-Semitic content on its international Instagram account. The German offshoot of the movement condemns the posting.

The German branch of Fridays for Future has distanced itself from an Instagram posting with anti-Semitic content published by the movement's official international account.

Anti-Semitism is "in no way compatible with our self-image," it says on the Twitter channel of Fridays for Future Germany.

Fridays for Future international published a post on Instagram on Wednesday that must be understood as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in the current Middle East conflict. It says, among other things: “Our hearts go out to all the martyrs who have lost their lives. The violence and loss of life is a tragedy and their blood will not be forgotten. May the memories of it become a blessing and a revolution. "

Furthermore, the post is about a "connection between people and country", which promotes "spiritual and cultural prosperity".

This goes hand in hand with a responsibility to look after the land, which must be passed on "from generation to generation".

This argument reminded many in the social media of the blood-and-soil ideology of the National Socialists, which propagated the unity of a people with a settlement area.

The conflict between Israel and the Palestinians escalated again massively at the beginning of last week.

One of the triggers was the threat of eviction from Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.

Since then, according to the Israeli army, around 3,700 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

The Israeli army responded with air strikes on facilities owned by Hamas and other militant groups.

More than 230 people were killed, most of them Palestinians.
