Little by little, the municipalities most reluctant to the new generation of mobile telephony accept that it be deployed on their territory.

After Paris, Rennes or Strasbourg, it's Lille's turn to hoist the 5G flag.

Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free have reached an agreement on 5G with the city of the North, according to Les Échos.

A new charter on mobile telephony should be amended by the operators and the Mayor of Lille this week.

The commercial launch of 5G should take place immediately afterwards, which would allow operators to meet their commitments.

Orange was betting on launching this new service in Lille in May.

For operators, the commercial exploitation of 5G in large cities is fundamental.

"

The first advantage of 5G is that it makes it possible to avoid the saturation of 4G networks in urban centers

", recalls an expert in the sector.

Operators also have every interest in deploying a new service where there are the most customers!

For their part, cities, including those most resistant to 5G, have every interest in offering businesses in their territory the widest possible access to infrastructure, including telecoms networks.

The blockade of 5G has drawn criticism from various players in local ecosystems.
