Marianne Faithfull: "I studied English romantics at the convent"

2021-05-22T18:52:31.645Z

INTERVIEW - Covid survivor, the singer releases She Walks in Beauty, an album dedicated to poetry, one of the great passions of her life.

“I am always very happy to speak to the“ Figaro ”,”

says Marianne Faithfull in her recognizable voice over the phone.

Talking to this legend is a little miracle.

After surviving the excesses of the sixties, a strong flirtation with heroin and defeating cancer, Marianne triumphed over Covid last year.

This allowed her to complete the album of poems that she had been planning to burn for a long time.

A small wonder of grace and sensitivity, well in the manner of this aristocrat of rock'n'roll.

- How are you, dear Marianne?

Marianne FAITHFULL.

-

I'm better, thank you.

Even though I have recovered, I am feeling the symptoms of the Covid long.

My lungs are badly damaged.

But today is a very beautiful day.

A very good friend of mine came to visit me.

He grabbed my dear Martin guitar, and I practiced singing with him.

I do it at least once a week, sometimes more.
