The far-right essayist Alain Soral was sentenced Wednesday, May 19 on appeal to four months in prison in semi-liberty for incitement to hatred because of religion, after blaming the fire of Notre-Dame on the Jews from Paris.

The Paris Court of Appeal dismissed certain comments prosecuted but confirmed the guilt of Alain Bonnet dit Soral, who was inflicted in September by the criminal court for 90 days-fine of 60 euros (5,400 euros) as a result of comments made in April 2019, on the “
Equality and Reconciliation
” website. The Court of Appeal also confirmed his conviction in another case to an 80-day fine of 50 euros (4,000 euros) for incitement to hatred on the grounds of religion, due to comments dating from August 9, 2018 in a magazine and online.
On the other hand, she released Alain Soral in a third case, relating to a video of April 16, 2019 called "
Soral in prison
" and in which he had been convicted by the court for contesting a crime against Humanity, defamation and insult in reason of religion, 90 days-fine at 60 euros (5,400 euros).
In this video, he mentioned in particular the 1961 trial of Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann.
In the first two cases, the court also confirmed the damages inflicted at first instance, however modifying the amounts awarded for legal costs to the various civil party associations, the League against racism and anti-Semitism ( Licra), J'accuse, the Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF), SOS Racisme in particular.
