The annual meeting of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce discussed a number of issues related to facilitating commercial movement from importing, exporting, trading and flowing goods in the commercial markets.

Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Talal Al-Barazi confirmed that the cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce has witnessed a remarkable development in recent times in terms of responding to the initiatives launched recently and implementing laws and decisions related to price reduction, the flow of goods into the market, and consumer protection.

Minister Al-Barazi stated that the purpose of the new consumer protection law is to control the markets and protect the consumer, and that everyone must adhere to the law while making sure to provide possible facilities for commercial work, pointing to the importance of expansion by the Syrian business sector in the issue of social responsibility.

For his part, the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Muhammad Essam Hazima, confirmed that the bank is intensifying its cooperation with the chambers of commerce and the business sector to solve problems related to dealing in foreign currency, explaining that the possession of foreign currency or its deposit or withdrawal from banks for the purpose of import is not considered a legal violation. Syria directly or transferring it through exchange companies for the purpose of buying goods from any Syrian merchant, provided that this merchant proves the amount of the pieces on the sales invoice and the export certificate.

He warned Hazema that the Syrian merchant who obtained foreign currency from selling goods to the foreign trader is prohibited from reusing it in purchasing any goods from within Syria with these pieces from any Syrian citizen or Arab residing in Syria because this is considered trading in foreign exchange and is punishable by law, indicating that Exchange companies were directed to open branches in commercial centers to facilitate dealing with merchants in this regard, indicating that work is underway intensively to move to the integrated electronic payment system.

The head of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Muhammad Abu Al-Hoda Al-Lahham, affirmed that the commercial sector will continue despite the unjust blockade on the country by securing the country's needs of basic commodities and raw materials needed for the industrial sector and the productive and service sectors, stressing that the business sector in Syria in the next stage has great tasks to build a strong Syrian economy.

Al-Lahham called on members of the chambers and the commercial sector in Syria to participate extensively in the presidential elections on May 26, indicating that participation is a national duty for all merchants and economic actors in order to build Syria and strengthen its national economy.
