The mother of Ido, 6, who was killed in Sderot: "Dudka suffered the injury for all of us"
Shani Abigail, who herself was hospitalized after a rocket hit a nearby house and a fragment of it flew into the protected space where the family was staying, told a World Health Organization representative that her son was a happy child.
"I promised him every time we went to the protected space that we were in a safe place, and now I feel like I lied to him."

Shani Avigal, the mother of 6-year-old Ido Avigal who was killed by a rocket shrapnel in Sderot, said today (Wednesday) in a conversation with a representative of the World Health Organization that many of the family members were in the protected area, while her son "suffered the injury for all of us."
Abigail herself was hospitalized after being seriously injured in the incident.
"He always told us not to call him Ido, to call him 'Dudka'. That's how he wanted his name to be. He was a very happy boy," Abigail said of her son.
"We were supposed to run to the shelter every time, every five minutes, every three minutes. I promised him every time we went to the protected space that we were in a safe place, and now I feel like I lied to him, that I did not protect him."

She told of the injuries of the rest of the family, including herself.
"My son suffered the injury for all of us. We were together in this room, me, my sister, my sister-in-law, my nephew, everyone was in this room. My nephew is having surgery; for me it is a miracle that I am alive," she said.
"We just want to live, go home, play with the kids, we want a simple life. It's not something so big to ask for but here, in this reality, it's something big to ask for."
She further stressed that "since it started we can not go anywhere. There are alarms all the time".
Ido Avigal was killed a week ago in Sderot.
A shrapnel from a rocket that hit a nearby house apparently penetrated through the security window where he was staying and killed him. He was laid to rest last Friday.
