There should also be a culture summer in 2021.

The Freising Cultural Office is already working intensively on the concept.

Freising

- For months, the employees of the Freising Cultural Office have been working towards this day X: the moment when the number of corona infections will drop so far that cultural events are allowed again.

Now the time has come.

The cultural office is working intensively on the first pioneering open-air series.

"It is a big surprise for all of us that things are moving so quickly," says Markus Bader, Head of the City of Freising's Department of Culture.

All the greater is the joy with him and his staff, who stayed through the whole year despite lockdowns.

"We have scheduled, postponed, canceled and rescheduled - always in the hope that the incidences will eventually develop in such a way that the game ban will fall."

Open-air is being re-launched in the district court garden

That is why Bader is in constant contact with organizers and artists.

That is why autumn, including subscription and children's theater, is already planned.

And that's why he can now put together a colorful program for the 2nd summer wonder in a relatively short time.

Because the event, which premiered in the first Corona year in the district court garden, is to be relaunched in July.

“Originally we had set the festival to start at the end of June,” reveals Bader.

But now, in consultation with the cooperation partner, Uferlos GmbH, city youth care and music school, it has been decided to give the go-ahead on Thursday, July 8th.

The program will then take place on three consecutive weekends.

Above all, regional artists should be given the opportunity to perform

Bader does not want to name names yet.

But the concept is in place.

"It is important to us to offer artists from Freising and the surrounding area an opportunity to perform." But national acts will also be at the start.

And after the Cultural Office achieved a coup with the commitment of the Munich Chamber Orchestra at the Summer Wonder 2020, a well-known ensemble is to be presented in Freising this time as well.

The children are also offered something - a great challenge that should demand great instinct from the actors on stage.

After all, everything has to be Corona-compliant.

"And children who are happy to have to whistle back would be the worst," says Bader.

Reservation instead of direct ticket sales

The cultural office is still thinking about the handling of ticket sales.

“We still have to drive on sight,” says Bader, referring to incidences.

For logistical reasons, he would like to avoid a cost reversal due to concert cancellations.

He therefore advocates reservations where tickets are only paid for a few days before the event.

Good to know

From May 21st, outdoor cultural events with a maximum of 250 spectators (fixed seats) with a stable 7-day incidence below 100 are allowed in Bavaria.

This applies both to the professional sector and to amateur and amateur ensembles, as well as to film events.

Visitors must be tested before attending the event.

However, this obligation does not apply if the 7-day incidence is stable below 50.

Many people who have not yet had a corona vaccination will need patience.

Because in the near future, second vaccinations are largely on the plan.

This week, Bavaria wants to lift the vaccination prioritization for general practitioners as part of the fight against corona.

The doctor's spokesman in Freising criticizes this.

The seven-day incidence is falling. And that is why the city of Freising is preparing to relocate the weekly market from the Luitpoldanlage to the old town.
