The BRB speaks of 94 percent punctuality, the BEG in its annual statistics for 2020 only 87 percent.
How do these deviations come about and which value is actually correct?
District
- 94 percent of the trains are on time, the technical manager of the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB), Arnulf Schuchmann, recently told our newspaper. In the statistics published yesterday by the Bavarian Railway Company (BEG), the Oberland network, with 87.1 percent punctuality, still ranks second to last. Only the trains of the Alex-Nord were delayed by 83.6 percent.
The reason for this deviation is the evaluation period.
While Schuchmann's analysis only takes into account the era of the new Lint railcars, the BEG statistics refer to the entire year 2020 - and thus to almost six months with Integral and Talent.
In purely speculative terms, the BRB with the Lint would have been exactly in the Bavarian average of 94 percent in terms of punctuality.
However, there is only certainty with the BEG statistics for 2021. Despite the transition year with a change of fleet, the BRB 2020 was relatively good in terms of train cancellations.
The value of 5.1 percent is below the Bavaria-wide average of 6.0 percent.

However, the BEG itself points out that the annual statistics are only comparable to a limited extent with previous years: Because of Corona, fewer trains have run, which has led to a lower utilization of the networks - and thus to more punctuality.
In general, infrastructure problems (rail network, switches, etc.) remained the main cause of delays.
A point that the BRB has repeatedly emphasized.
According to Schuchmann, the Lint trains have been 98 percent on time since their introduction without network problems.
