It is a beginning.

A bracket for all musical events from June to October.

All dates of the music summer in Garmisch-Partenkirchen were bundled in a flyer.

In the long term, so it is hoped, all other cultural events will also be found on this new platform.

  • 167 dates in one flyer: Dr.

    Dominik Sedivy surprised.

  • In the long term, the entire cultural summer offer should be found in such a flyer.

  • Organizers see the bundling of dates as an additional advertising platform.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- The wish has existed for a long time. Now the team from GaPa Kultur has made a start and packed all musical dates from June 1st to October 17th in a flyer under the title Music Summer. "This way we were able to bundle the events," says Dr. Dominik Sedivy, head of the Richard Strauss Institute. And show the enormous variety. “I was surprised myself how much came together.” If you unfold the brochure, you will find 167 appointments packed on three A4 pages, unfortunately not in color. Sedivy is not deterred by such quiet criticism. For him, the flyer is “a great start and a sign of a common program”. The Richard Strauss Days, for which he is responsible, are also under the umbrella of the Music Summer. And the Herrmann-Levi-Days, “which should actually be something bigger”.Since it is not yet clear what is possible under corona conditions, details have not yet been determined.

The pandemic also makes planning difficult for Eduard Schönach. “It's really difficult to set dates this year,” regrets the organizer of the “Music in the Park” series, which makes up a large part of the music summer. The concerts of the Garmisch and Partenkirchen bands also take place under its roof. For them, the flyer is “another platform to possibly address a different clientele”. Josef Grasegger junior, chairman of the Partenkirchen ensemble, is therefore happy “about the additional advertising”. This is how Schönach understands the flyer. “Basically, that's a great idea.” But he urgently advises locals and guests who want to attend one of the dates to take a look at the website of the respective organizer in advance. "Because of Corona, changes are quite possible," says the Grainauer.

A good start that can be expanded

He still knows the desire to bundle the cultural offerings from the days of the cultural summer.

He is pleased that a platform has now been created.

In the long term, however, he hopes that theaters and other events will also find their way there.

Sandra Debus, culture specialist at Garmisch-Partenkirchen town hall, can only agree with this. “That should actually be the goal.” But she is also satisfied with the beginning that has now been made by GaPa Kultur. "A joint appearance is good." Especially this year, in which events can only take place under difficult conditions due to the corona restrictions, she welcomes this initiative. Since there is no cultural office in the market town that sets up a joint program in larger cities, “this bundling is a good start”. This will help the organizers to market themselves better.

Markus Schneider, chairman of the culture bag, sees it similarly.

“It's good that we now have a compact overview.” One that interested parties can hang on the kitchen cupboard so as not to miss an appointment.

Among those that he and his volunteer team offer are concerts as well as cabaret - perhaps a start to map the entire cultural summer program in a flyer in the long term.
