The Faculty of Tourism at Al-Baath University in Homs opened today the educational computer laboratory for hotel and tourism programs.

Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, confirmed to SANA that the laboratory's creation is a quantum leap in the field of linking education with the labor market and training and providing tourism sectors with academic specialists, as the laboratory helps prepare students to enter the labor market and employ theoretical information in a practical way.

Dr. Hassan Mashreqi, Dean of the University's College of Tourism stated that the college seeks, through this laboratory, which contains 12 computers, to enable students to obtain a high level of knowledge and skills in tourism and hotel sciences through the Amadeus and Opera programs and to supplement the requirements of the tourism and hotel labor market and distribute the curricula, tools and methods of education. And its development will contribute to creating an educational structure.

The President of the Federation of Chambers of Tourism, Muhammad Khaddour, noted the importance of opening the laboratory through which students will be trained on the most important programs used internationally in tourism facilities, opening new horizons for students wishing to enter the labor market.

Alaa Fadel, a third-year student at the Faculty of Tourism, stated that the laboratory will have a great role in helping students in their field of study by dealing with modern programs.

The opening was followed by a photo exhibition of archaeological sites and historical monuments in Syria, paintings of Aramaic inscriptions, and various tourist books.
