An expanded meeting chaired by Engineer Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister, with the official, religious, economic, social and civil activities in the province of As-Suwayda discussed the service and development sites in the governorate and how to optimally invest its capabilities and promote the agricultural and industrial sectors and meet all the needs of the development process in it through the establishment of projects that would improve the services provided to citizens .
The demands focused on improving the water situation in the governorate, completing equipping the wells with the necessary equipment, maintaining idle wells, establishing sewage treatment plants, maintaining stopped stations, supporting farmers with soft loans, providing fuel, fertilizer, seeds, agricultural machinery and agricultural production requirements at reasonable prices, importing agricultural crops through the Syrian Foundation for Trade and marketing support. The demands also dealt with holding a conference on investment opportunities available in the governorate, improving electrical current, maintaining firefighting and cleaning mechanisms, repairing road networks, establishing health centers, settling temporary workers ’conditions, supplying productive sectors with manpower, equipping the Cardamom market with electronic domes, and securing transportation for university students to Damascus governorate.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister announced the allocation of 5 billion pounds from outside the governorate's financing plans to improve the reality of services in the areas of water resources, drinking water, sanitation, administrative units, schools, roads and health.
Eng. Arnous stressed the importance of mobilizing the capabilities and energies of As-Suwayda governorate in various fields, pointing to continuous work to improve the water situation in the governorate by increasing interest in dams and dams and securing equipment for dug wells according to well-thought-out plans and work to complete the desalination project and draw sea water to the southern region, especially the governorates of As-Suwayda and Daraa, and complete the project. Eng. Eng. Arnous stressed the support of the agricultural sector in Sweida and the provision of all its requirements, and the government’s keenness to issue decisions that would motivate farmers to expand their agricultural activities, provide production requirements and allow the granting of soft loans, referring to the efforts made to market the apple season and support its export in addition to supporting the cultivation of the wheat crop in accordance with the government strategy to achieve Food security, explaining that the tourism potentials enjoyed by As-Suwayda require cooperation between the public and private sectors to establish tourism projects that would improve the governorate's revenues and provide job opportunities.
For his part, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, stressed the government's efforts to remove obstacles to investments, activate craft and industrial areas, put projects that have been launched into service, move towards small and medium investment projects, and focus on implementing the investment plan set for the governorate.
The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil pointed out to work to create a program for exporting apples and establishing a laboratory for that so that there is no return to any exports, targeting new export markets, expanding existing markets, in addition to supporting the cultivation of chickpeas and exporting the surplus.
The Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad Al-Rahmoun, drew attention to supporting the police units in the governorate to carry out their duties by providing them with the necessary cadres and logistical equipment to deal with any security defects that may arise, while the Minister of Tourism, Engineer Muhammad Rami Martini indicated to support the tourism reality in the governorate to benefit from the tourism potential It enjoys encouraging tourism investments and providing the necessary incentives for them, in addition to working on the completion of the Hotel Institute project, which would secure the necessary tourism cadres for the governorate.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim referred to the work to supply the Damascus University branch in As-Suwayda with the necessary teaching cadres, as 25 majors were allocated from the faculty members ’competition for Suwayda in addition to setting up a plan to advance the university’s reality in terms of technical equipment, laboratories and the construction of new educational buildings. Public Works and Housing Eng. Suhail Abdul Latif indicated that 612 dwellings have been allocated from youth housing and 147 dwellings from labor housing, and work is underway to complete the two projects according to the specified time periods. The Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng.
