LIVE News in Development

The Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Monaco Grand Prix, the fifth of the Formula One World Championship, held this Sunday in the streets of Monte Carlo, where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) finished second and equaled his best result in the category queen, in which he raised his number of podiums to three.

Verstappen, who took the leadership of the World Championship, won ahead of Sainz and Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren), who completed the podium in a race that Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) - ninth in qualifying - finished fourth, and in the one that the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who on Saturday had signed the 'pole', did not start because of a fault in the left side of his car.

English seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) lost first place in the competition by finishing seventh, behind German Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri), who was sixth.

In a test that the other Spaniard, Fernando Alonso (Alpine) -who started seventeenth- finished thirteenth;

and after which Verstappen leads the competition with 105 points, four more than the Mercedes captain, who set the fastest lap on the legendary Côte d'Azur track.

Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) finished eighth, one place ahead of Frenchman Esteban Ocon, Alonso's teammate at Alpine.

The Italian Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) also scored, finishing a great weekend - personally - with tenth place.

The next Grand Prix, that of Azerbaijan, will be held on June 6 at the Baku street circuit.

This is how the championship positions were:

Verstappen 105 pts

Hamilton 101

Norris 56

Bottas 47

Pérez 44

Leclerc 40

Sainz 38

Ricciardo 24

Gasly 16

Verstappen, the winner: "It is very special to win here, it is even my first podium. You have to be focused all the time to win in Monaco. You never know what will happen, you have to manage the tires well. They stopped earlier and that's what made it a little easier for me. "

Terrible Sunday for the star team.

In networks, the team apologized: "A disaster for Valtteri. The wheel nut was machined on the axle when we tried the pit stop, which means that the wheel cannot be changed."

Lewis Hamilton berated Mercedes for the strategy that led him to stop before his competitors and caused him to lose places in the classification.

"How can it be?!"

Verstappen stopped and it took only two seconds to change tires.

His Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez is now the leader of the race.

Charles Leclerc spoke after his retirement: "It is very difficult to feel good. I suppose that unfortunately I am getting used to feeling that way ... I never finished a race here and this year I am not even starting. It is difficult, and I also feel sorry for the team."

Bottas entered the pits and something unusual happened to him: the mechanics could not remove the tire to change it.

After more than a minute, there was no way to loosen that rubber.

And it stayed there: unusual abandonment.

Hamilton pitted on lap 30;

Vettel and Gasly also did the same and the Briton ended up losing places to both.

Bad arrest of the Mercedes man.

While reaching 30 laps the positions are not modified, on social networks Ferrari fans around the world do not know whether to laugh or cry with what happened to Leclerc.

But they see a clear culprit: director Mattia Binotto.

One of the few emotions offered by the Monaco GP, where surpasses are rare: the personal duel between Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin (both from Haas).

The son of the crack, who for the first time had started behind his teammate, overtook him at the start of the race at the Loews corner.

The semi-axis that leaves Leclerc out is the left.

In qualifying, the Monegasque had hit the car on the right side.

Everyone wonders when it happened and how it was possible that Ferrari did not notice the problem in time.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) is sixth and Sebastian Vettel, seventh.
