This morning at the "Francesco Saverio Cavallari" institute, in Brancaccio, the "Garden of Legality for innocent children victims of the Mafia" was inaugurated and the first olive tree named in memory of Judge Giovanni Falcone was planted. The event, which saw the participation of school pupils and civil and military authorities, is part of the regional project sponsored by the Municipality of Palermo "Anticchia i Curaggiu", which aims to promote the culture of legality in the memory of the victims of the mafia.
The event was attended by the mayor Leoluca Orlando and the councilors Giovanna Marano and Toni Sala. "This institute is an example for the whole city. The project is aimed at children but they themselves speak of legality, I think this represents a clear idea of the future - said the mayor - Whoever killed and kills children is a coward and this event is essential to continue in the process of cultural change in Palermo ".
The mayor was given a small Italian tricolor flag made of paper, made by the children of the institute. "Tomorrow, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Capaci massacre - commented Orlando - I will hand it over to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. A way to connect the commitment of these children for the promotion of legality, with the highest office in the state" . "Children - concluded the mayor - give us courage and fraternity. And they teach us how to have freedom from fear by taking care of ourselves and others".
