Promise kept.
Emmanuel Macron has agreed to participate in the “anecdotes competition” of the two famous Youtubers McFly and Carlito at the Élysée.
The Head of State made this commitment after having issued a challenge to them: to obtain more than ten million views on a video recalling the barrier gestures.
The goal was reached in less than three days last February.
Their reception was of course also strategic for Emmanuel Macron: to make themselves sympathetic to a young audience.
Still useful less than a year from the presidential election.
Mbappé on the phone
The video is confusing to say the least. Two worlds meet: the Elysian traditions on one side, the offbeat codes of YouTube on the other. We thus find Emmanuel Macron dressed in a presidential suit facing a McFly in a t-shirt and a Carlito beanie on his head. It sometimes turns caricature when McFly sticks his tongue out at the President or rolls around in the Palace Garden.
"You do a lot of rolling yourself"
, replies the Head of State who tries somehow to play the game.
As for the anecdote competitions, Emmanuel Macron and the two Youtubers had to tell each other stories and disentangle the true from the false. The president tried to bluff by saying that
“Kylian MBappé will leave PSG in the coming weeks for Olympique de Marseille”
. The head of state then played the effect of surprise by phoning the young prodigy of the France team, who denied. A phone call again strategic: Kylian MBappé remains among the favorite personalities of young French people. As for the exact anecdotes, Emmanuel Macron recounted having participated in a television series during an official trip to Nigeria. He also said he played against OM with his security team.

, he assured.
The video ends at the back of the Elysée garden with a mini-concert by the humorous metal band UltraVomit which covers the Marseillaise before continuing with ... "a green mouse".

Emmanuel Macron and the two Youtubers parted with a score of four everywhere. Thus, the pledges offered at the beginning of the video must be kept. The head of state offered them to get on a plane from the Patrouille de France for the July 14 parade. In return, the president pledged -
"fine, I will"
- to post a portrait of McFly and Carlito on his desk.

said the Youtubers. So even if it means blurring the solemn spirit that hangs over this traditional speaking out ...
By wanting to seduce young people, not hesitating to break the codes, does the Head of State not risk offending part of his electorate, attached to the presidential stature? At the start of his five-year term, Emmanuel Macron had nevertheless worked to “live in the office”, unlike his predecessor François Hollande who wanted to be “a normal president”. The risk-benefit balance of this kind of staging will have to be watched closely, and may well set a precedent.
