The former Minister of the Interior under Jacques Chirac and former president of the Constitutional Council Jean-Louis Debré admitted on Saturday that he had already voted for François Mitterrand.

Commenting on the current situation of the right and the left on BFMTV, this close friend of Jacques Chirac explained:
"I do not find myself in any political party".
And to slip at that moment: "
I even voted for Mitterrand".
To the question of the journalist Apolline de Malherbe,
"you voted for François Mitterrand against Valéry Giscard d'Estaing?"
, he refrained from any comment.
Recall that the Chiraquian camp, eliminated in the first round of the 1981 presidential election, had worked, according to the outgoing president, for the victory of the socialist candidate.
Shortly before his death, the latter would have confided to Giscard d'Estaing to have been elected thanks to the votes brought by Jacques Chirac, who would have said to him in substance during a secret dinner: "we must get rid of Giscard".
