Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that holding a summit meeting between Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden is important to overcome the tense situation in the relations between the two countries.
In an interview with Russia 1 channel today, Peskov indicated that choosing the venue for the potential summit is a technical issue that does not have any great importance.
Peskov pointed out that the Russian side is still studying the American proposal to hold the summit in a third country during Biden’s scheduled visit to Europe next June, pointing out that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov briefed Putin in detail on the results of his talks with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, and it will be taken accordingly. On that, a final decision assured that the public opinion will be informed of Putin's decision as soon as it is issued.
Lavrov confirmed, in a speech he delivered recently via video during a session of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Gorkhakov Fund, that his country is ready for the difficult development of Russian-American relations.
