The large district Ramadama had to be canceled this spring due to corona.
Several classes at the Tölzer Südschule could not be stopped by this and collected rubbish themselves in the city area.
Bad Tölz - For the first graders, waste avoidance was a topic in the homeschooling class.
The children learned how long it takes rubbish to rot - from plastic wrap to car tires, from apples to cigarette butts.
"You could feel the dismay and the feeling of powerlessness of the children," reports teacher Michael Zürl.
"You have already picked up an incredible amount of information, including on the subject of microplastics."
Some teachers also took part
With his call for private clean-up campaigns, Zürl met open ears.
Most of his students immediately went to clean up their own neighborhood.
Many would have sent him photos.
Zürl: "I got feedback from some parents that they even enjoyed Ramadama." Some teachers did not want to lag behind and tidied up around the southern school.
Sometimes the teacher has to smile too.
When asked what could be done to prevent the flood of rubbish, one of his students suggested: “The mayor should make an announcement in Marktstrasse that waste avoidance has to work better.” His class will soon want a letter on this subject to the mayor Ingo Mehner write.
Zürl: "Let's see if we get an answer."
