The Iranian Ministry of Security announced the dismantling of three terrorist cells in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan in the southeast and (Western Azerbaijan) in the northwest of the country, and the arrest of the perpetrators of the terrorist bombing in the city of Sarawan last March.

The ministry said in a statement today that the terrorist bombing that took place on the 21st of last March in Sarawan in the Sistan and Baluchestan governorate resulted in the killing of a 16-year-old youth and wounding others. The terrorist was about to carry out other terrorist acts, as its members were arrested, and a pistol and 60 kilograms of explosives were found with a remote control device and a detonator was found in their possession.

The statement added that another cell was spotted in Sistan and Baluchistan province, which was directed by a European-based criminal terrorist group planning to carry out terrorist operations in the province.

The statement pointed out that an armed cell was also arrested in the western province of Azerbaijan, which entered the country through the Kurdistan region of Iraq to blackmail citizens and carry out terrorist acts, explaining that after an armed clash in the Urmia border area, two members of the cell were killed and another escaped, and weapons, explosives and ammunition were found in their possession.
